Oh the joy of living on a tropical island! The sun and the sea, the beaches and the rain forest. The bright days and the dark nights. I am a true beach lover and Oceanholic and most of my favorite things to do on Koh Lanta are of course connected to salt water, sand and sun :-).

Beaches, beaches!

We live on Klong Dao which is the beach where most of the Swedish familys live, partly because of the Swedish schools that are situated here. The beach is also suitable for kids since it is very shallow. The sand is flat and hard so many people like to take walks or go for a run early in the morning. We used to take long walks with our dog Charlie on Klong Dao but now there are to many dogs and they scare him a little bit. On Klong Dao you can find many restaurants and some bars (my favorite bar is The Indian), but if you want to party until late, this is not the place for you.

Long beach is one of my favorites. The water is a bit clearer and the sunsets here are amazing! We like to hang on Long beach in the afternoon, preferably at Somewhere Else. They have great food and if it is too hot you can sit in one of the Salas. You can also rent a SUP from Niel who works at Lanta Diver’s booking office next to Somewhere else. I would say Long beach is the place to go for party until sunrise!

Klong kong is also a very nice place to hang in the afternoons. Not so good for swimming because of the rocks in the sea but the bars and restaurants have a really nice vibe and are open until late.

Bamboo beach, down south  is another favorite. Quiet and relaxing. Just a few restaurants and not so many people.  This is the perfect place to go for a romantic weekend away from the crowds 🙂

Diving and snorkeling

Surprise, surprise I love the underwater world! Diving and snorkeling around Koh Lanta is just amazing and of course this is one of my favorite things to do. To read more about Diving, check out my Blog here . You can also find a lot of information on Lanta Diver’s web site, www.lantadiver.se

Lanta Animal Welfare

This is such a great place! Lanta Animal Welfare (LAW) is one of Koh Lanta’s Non Governmental Organisations. I am sure most of you have heard about them and also visited the center. The welfare center is situated in Long Beach across the road not far from Relax Beach. LAW was founded in 2005 by Junie Kovacs and her mission was to end suffering of the hundreds of homeless, abused and injured animals on Koh Lanta. LAW has the only veterinary service on the island and they provide first aid, vaccinations and sterilization for both strays and owned animals.  LAW also run mass sterilization and vaccination on islands around Koh Lanta and on the mainland through mobile clinics. At the center you can take one of the dogs out for a walk, cuddle with the cats at “Kitty City”, have a coffee and do some shopping so support them. Read more about LAW here.
